Section 1.1: Playing with Neople Account
- In order to download the game, you will need sign-up for an account or log in. On the main page, simply click log-in/register on the top right corner. If you have played any MMORPG before, this part is pretty easy.
- Once you have signed up, you should get an e-mail to verify the account. If you choose to connect using Facebook or Google account, you don't have to verify.
- The Steam client was released on Aug 9, 2016 and is still available today. If you have a steam account, you can play download DFO and play.
- Pretty simple process, add the game to your library, download the game, then play.
- The following is from Neople's official guide:
- "Both Neople and Steam accounts will share the same server and have the same gameplay experiences. However, there may be a small difference when it comes to purchasing/using CERA (DFO's in-game cash) and DLCs.
- If you play with a Steam account, you can purchase Steam-exclusive DLCs. However, there are more restrictions when purchasing CERA compared to a Neople account.
- Neople accounts cannot purchase DLCs, but they have more payment methods for CERA such as Paypal, PP cards, E-wallet, and etc. Even if you have already exceeded the maximum purchase limit of certain payment methods, you can always use PP cards to purchase more."
- One of the main advantage of using Neople version is the different Pre-paid card you can use. I had an conversation of another player where he was having trouble loading Nexon game card into his Steam Wallet account. He couldn't do it because Steam Wallet doesn't take the card. On the other hand, Neople will take anything you throw at them, PayPal, Nexon Game Card, E-wallet, Credit cards, Prepaid Cards.
- To ensure the security of your account, I highly recommend you set up Google Authenticator along with Region Lock. You can add up to 5 countries to your lock. Of course, if you plan to move or travel outside of the indicated regions, be sure to make adjustment as needed.
- Note that Goblin PIN is an in-game 4 digit code that you can set up. However, Goblin PINs is no longer available as of MAR 23, 2021.

- This reddit is a great discussion about this topic. Really bottom line, no, it's not pay-to-win, but you can definitely pay for convenience.
- I can expand this section more by talking about how to buy Cera (DFO's in-game cash) and what you should spend it on, but this will be in another section. I thought it's important to discuss Pay-to-win right in this chapter 1.
