- After Farming Improvement patch was released, everyone has been talking about how difficult it is for new player to progress. So I used some of my alts and ran this dungeon to see what was all the fuss was about.
- Before the patch, your daily reward count was at 20 runs, and each run can early up about 280 . So literally you could finish all 12 Ghent Unique pieces in like 2 days of farming. On top of that, all the extra Token you got, you can buy heavy weapon from Lindsey for easy money. It was one of the best method to farm gold for new player.
- After the patch, the daily reward count was changed to 6, and the amount of you can get per run was severely nerfed.
- So I used 20 of my alts and ran Ghent Palace 120 times full clear on Expert mode with premium contract. I sold everything and also record what Unique dropped. There are 2 things I'm looking for:
- How much Token and gold can I get?
- If the Unique drop rate is increased, how long can I get all Ghent Unique pieces?
Data and Observation
- Token and Gold
- From 20 alts, I got 5,411,818 gold. I also got 7,076 Tokens combining both untradable and account-bound versions. Using those will get me about 17 heavy weapons, which can be resold for 509,184 gold, which will earn me 5,921,002
- So in average, each time I do my daily 6 runs, I get about 296,050 .
- If you think about it, 6 runs give me about 300k, 20 runs would give about 986,833 gold. When you compare that to my previous analysis, you're not very far off. Granted this is a very small number of runs (120) compared to that data (400), but I'm sure the number won't be too far off.
- In conclusion, does Farming patch nerf Ghent as a gold farm place? Not really. However, it's a bit inconvenience that you have to farm it in multiple alts to rack up the Tokens. So for new players, it can be harder to get the gold if they only have 1 character. They can still farm Ghent after the 6 runs, they will just get less gold.
- Character Progression
- Since we get much less Token now, our primary source will have to be from dungeon drops. In the 120 runs, I got 48 Uniques and 2 Epics. So yeah, 40% unique drop rate is not bad at all.
- Some observation about these Unique drops though. (1) You don't always get the weapon for your class. (2) Not sure if it was intended but the majority of armor drops seem to match the character's mastery. There was only 4 pieces that didn't match (e.g. Heavy Shoulder on Skirmisher).
- It's hard to tell due to RNG. But let say I don't care about armor mastery, and I assumed all the above 20 alts are the same character and from using the above data:
- Day 1: I would have Top and Shoulder
- Day 2: I would have Ring
- Day 3: I would have duplicates
- Day 4: I would have Shoes and Magic Stone
- Day 5: I would have Bracelet
- Day 6: I would have duplicates
- Day 7: I would have duplicates again. So I would have given up and used 2,474 Total Token to buy the remaining pieces. If this character happens to be Brawler, I would have the weapon on day 1.
- For new player who only have 1 character, it probably will take about 14 days to complete if you don't take drops into account. But if you count the drops, it will be much faster. But yeah, regardless, it will still be much slower than before the patch.
